Human Circadian Rhythm Disorder Study
Description
A T32 post-doctoral fellow position is immediately available for a human research project—using a first of its kind home-based circadian phenotyping kit to study circadian rhythm disorders, specifically advanced and delayed sleep wake phase disorder (CircadiaStudy.org) This innovative study will address the needs of a diverse patient population with the most common endogenous CRSWD by increasing accessibility, decreasing the cost of, and simplifying diagnostic and disease management tools and ultimately reducing health disparities. The successful applicant will be expected to complete this project and develop new research initiatives.
The selected candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Jacqueline Lane in the Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The Lane Laboratory conducts collaborative and interdisciplinary research on genetics and the health impacts of sleep and circadian biology. We are dedicated to improving our understanding of the genetic influences of circadian rhythms (the body’s internal regulation of the sleep–wake cycle), especially atypical circadian rhythms and circadian rhythm disorders. Expected background of candidates
We seek a post-doctoral fellow (MD or PhD) who has excellent experimental and analytical skills in physiology, ideally in human circadian biology and a record of publications in these areas. The position requires the ability to work independently as well as to perform effectively within a team. Excellent organizational, communication, and scientific writing skills are essential. We expect a strong interest in this research area, outstanding motivation, and a firm commitment to quality and productivity. Expected start date: immediate, or soon thereafter. The initial appointments will be for 2 years, renewable annually thereafter.
