Membership Benefits

The SRS helps young scientists begin to explore the field of sleep research with the free SRS Trainee Symposia at the SLEEP Annual Meeting, the annual Trainee Awards and the SRS Laboratory Directory, a resource to help students identify mentors and training opportunities in sleep research. SRS student members can learn about sleep research and career opportunities and get to interact with leaders in the field.

The SRS is a co-organizer of the SLEEP annual meeting, which is the premier scientific event in the field. Your SRS membership provides you with a significant discount on SLEEP meeting registration fees as well as Advances in Sleep and Circadian Science conference registration fees.

The SRS is aware that funding is vitally important to all its members and is dedicated to increasing the funding available for sleep research. The organization has committed significant resources to this area and has an active advocacy network communicating with Congress and NIH.

Recognizing the benefits of collaboration, the SRS offers a Membership Directory to help connect scientists and students who share an interest in sleep research. In addition, the SRS organizes events such as Club Hypnos during the SLEEP meeting to bring members together for an evening of conversation and networking.

SRS members have the opportunity to apply for members-only grants and awards, intended to recognize and support outstanding sleep research. The SRS also provides travel grants to advance the career development of trainees.

Seek out training positions or collaborate with other sleep researchers using the online directory of sleep research laboratories in the United States and abroad.

Gain online access to the most recent issues and the full archives of the journal SLEEP, journal SLEEP Advances, the SRS Bulletin Archives and abstracts from the Association of Professional Sleep Societies meetings, SRS publications or just search for articles of interest to further your professional development. Stay up to date on current research with PubAlert, a bi-weekly email containing the newest research articles from your area of interest.

Classic papers that span more than a century of sleep research are available online for download and review for members only. View abstracts from the very first meeting of the Association for the Psychophysical Study of Sleep.

The SRS provides resources for Sleep Research Society members at all levels of training to get continued exposure to new and exciting sleep and circadian research methods and findings. Resources include webinars, Virtual Seminar Series, professional job boards, and much more!

The SRS offers avenues of collaboration through mentoring and education. Mentoring opportunities include annual mentoring awards, one on one grant guidance, international and domestic opportunities that engage trainees and early stage investigators.
