The SRS Trainee Education Advisory Committee (TEAC) is seeking nominees for the position of Trainee Member-at-Large Elect for 2025-2026.
The Trainee Member-at-Large Elect will begin their service to the SRS as a member of Trainee Education Advisory Committee (TEAC) in June 2025. Responsibilities of the Trainee Member-at-Large Elect include (but aren’t limited to):
- Attending monthly TEAC meetings (approximately one hour per month);
- Attending regular TEAC leadership meetings and task force meetings as needed.
- Working with the Trainee Member-at-Large to plan the trainee activities for the SLEEP meeting.
- Lead the SLEEP Pals program, including application review and pairing subcommittee members with trainees.
It is anticipated that in June 2026, the Trainee Member-at-Large Elect will transition into the Trainee Member-at-Large as an effective member of the SRS Board of Directors, for the term beginning in June 2026 to June 2027. Responsibilities for the Trainee Member-at-Large include (but aren’t limited to):
- Attending monthly TEAC meetings (approximately one hour per month);
- Attending regular TEAC leadership and task force meetings as needed.
- Lead approximately three 1-hour meetings with the SRS Trainee Subcommittee prior to the SLEEP meeting.
- Attend approximately five SRS Board of Directors Meetings (3 virtual, 1 in person at the SRS National Office, and 1 at SLEEP)
- Serve as Chair of the SRS Trainee Subcommittee, which is deeply involved with the planning of the Trainee Symposia Series held every year at the SLEEP meeting.
- Support educational activities for trainee members of the SRS.
- Work directly with TEAC leadership and SRS Staff to organize the Trainee Symposia Series, and Trainee Networking Development Suite.
- Collecting and summarizing evaluations from trainee related events.
- Co-hosting two webinars prior to the SLEEP meeting.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the SRS strategic plan.
- Establish and monitor metrics for achievement of Society goals and performance and maintain regular communication with the membership.

To be fully considered as a nominee for Trainee Member at Large Elect, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be a current SRS Trainee member.
- Applicants must have previously attended the SRS Trainee Symposia Series (previously known as Trainee Day);
- Applicants must have previously participated on the SRS Trainee Subcommittee; and
- Applicants must confirm SRS Trainee membership status through 2027.

- Current and past leadership experiences.
- Experience with project, people, and time management.
- Current and past involvement within the SRS.

Position Responsibilities
As scientific knowledge expands and the profession grows, the SRS needs strong leaders to continue to move the Society forward and to implement programs that will benefit the membership. This includes supporting educational activities for trainee members of the SRS. Responsibilities for this position include organizing the Trainee Symposia Series, summarizing all trainee evaluations, and participating in monthly planning meetings. As an effective trainee member of the Board of Directors, the Trainee Member at Large will also assist with the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the Society, help establish and monitor metrics for achievement of Society goals and performance and maintain regular communication with the membership.
