Title: “Sleep and Postpartum Health”

Dr. Stone is a behavioral sleep specialist trained at The University of Memphis and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University with Drs. Kenny Lichstein, Donn Posner and Mary Carskadon. Her graduate research and training focused on actigraphy and sleep in older adults including how sleep and the treatment of insomnia is affected by taper and withdrawal of hypnotic medication. Her postdoctoral fellowship at Brown in developmental and perinatal sleep extended her focus on special populations. Kristen is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Director of Training at Rhode Island Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and a member of the SRS Pipeline Development Committee. Her recently published project on improving early postpartum maternal sleep provides pilot data for her ongoing efforts to develop targeted sleep interventions and to explore the reach of sleep optimization in perinatal populations and beyond.

The Virtual Seminar Series is a resource to support career development by providing opportunities for trainees and early career investigators to deliver professional talks to an audience of peers and colleagues through online seminars. Our goal is to provide a resource for Sleep Research Society members at all levels of training to get continued exposure to new and exciting sleep and circadian research methods and findings.
