The laboratory is supported by the American Heart Association (24TPA1290435) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (1R01HL167788) to investigate the biological and biobehavioral mechanisms (e.g., sleep) underlying early life stress-related cardiovascular disease risk. This position is for two (2) to three (3) years with an option for extension for a fourth year as necessary; the desired start date is any time between October 1, 2024, and August 1, 2025.

The person hired for this position will be expected to lead and/or assist with various facets of the project that include in vivo vascular assessments, collection and processing of blood samples, immune cell isolation and culture, endothelial cell isolation and plating, and sleep data acquisition. Excellent training in all aspects of the research will be provided.

Opportunity Highlights:
1) Develop complementary line(s) of research in psychosocial stress, lifestyle behaviors (sleep,
exercise, nutrition), vascular physiology, and cardiometabolic health;
2) Engage in a highly collaborative environment and work with colleagues on multidisciplinary
team(s);
3) Enjoy access to excellent clinical research and core labs to facilitate high-impact translational
research in a supportive environment;
4) Engage in manuscript and grant writing (to include postdoctoral fellowships and/or career
development awards);
5) Submit and present findings at national and/or international meetings (with travel supported by the
laboratory).
6) Centrally located in a Midwest Big10 College Town (and one of two UNESCO Cities of Literature in
the US) and within 3–4.5 h driving distance of Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Kansas
City, Madison, Des Moines, and Omaha.
