Sleep research plays a vital role in understanding and addressing the complexities of sleep and circadian disorders, which are prevalent worldwide and often coexist with other mental or physical conditions. However, researchers face significant obstacles in advancing the field due to difficulties in sustaining long-term research projects. One major challenge is recruitment, as it can be difficult to find and retain participants who meet the specific criteria for sleep and circadian studies.

  • Finding and retaining participants who meet inclusion and exclusion criteria for long-term research studies is often challenging due to multiple reasons.
  • This network will provide researchers with guidance, best practices, and innovative approaches to optimize recruitment efforts. It can also assist with facilitating identification of sites or collaborators. This can enhance their chances of success and may improve the competitiveness of their applications.
  • Sponsored clinical trials are required to meet pre-specified recruitment milestones, with real-time monitoring, with implications for continued funding.
