Get Involved! Vote! Volunteer! Join us at SLEEP!

Greetings. I hope everyone’s year is off to a good start. I am writing today with three reminders to get involved in your society.

This week, the ballot for SRS elections were emailed to all members. If you have not yet voted, please do. This is a critical election, as we have 1/3 of the Board rotating off. One of the first things the new Board is going to do is update our Strategic Plan. As you have seen in many blogs from me, as well as our Past Present Allan Pack, the current Strategic Plan has been instrumental in shaping the activities and directions of the SRS. Thus, in this election, you have the very real opportunity to influence the direction of the SRS moving forward. Please vote today. If you do not have the email with your personalized link, please email the SRS Coordinator to get one.

We also currently have a call out to volunteer to serve on an SRS committee. We need both regular members and trainee members to volunteer. Committee service is a great way to get involved in the society. Our committees play a critical role in implementing our Strategic Plan, and the enthusiasm and energy of our committee members never ceases to impress me. The SRS truly could not have had the success we have enjoyed in recent years without their hard work. There is a committee for every interest, so please take a look at our committee mandates here, and volunteer to serve on a committee here. The deadline for volunteering is Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Help us move the SRS and the field forward by serving on a SRS committee.

Finally, it is time to register for SLEEP 2018, being held June 2 – 6, 2018, in Baltimore, Maryland. We have an exciting cutting-edge program of research this year, ranging from basic neuroscience all the way to clinical trials. You can register for the meeting here. If you are a trainee, be sure to also register for the free Trainee Symposia Series. Oh, and do not forget to join us at Club Hypnos on Sunday night. Club Hypnos will again be the premier networking, social event, and data blitz at SLEEP 2018. Join us for SLEEP 2018 for great science and an entertaining Club Hypnos.
