The Sleep Research Society mourns the loss of Dr. Roger Broughton, who passed away on November 9 at the age of 88. He was a pioneering figure in sleep science and a founding member of the Sleep Research Society, the World Association of Sleep Medicine, and the Canadian Sleep Society (CSS). Among his many accolades were the prestigious Career Investigator Award from the Medical Research Council of Canada (1968–1997), the Dr. J. Grimes Lifetime Achievement Award (2004), and his final honor from the European Union Narcolepsy Network in 2021. In 2003, the CSS established the Roger Broughton Young Investigator Award.
