Seminar Topic:  Sleep and Climate Change

The European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) and the Sleep Research Society (SRS)  present the Summer Edition of our Joint Quarterly Seminar Series, marking the Summer Solstice on 20 June 2025 with an exploration of the intersection between climate change and sleep. As temperatures rise and environmental patterns shift, how does climate change affect sleep and overall health?

This virtual event will bring together two distinguished experts to discuss emerging research and its implications.

  • Dr. Danielle Wallace (US) – “Climate change: a public health crisis hurting sleep”
  • Dr. Ellemarije Altena (FR) – “Preventing sleep problems during heatwaves”

Researchers, clinicians, students, and all those interested in sleep and environmental science are invited to join this discussion. We encourage participants to take an active role in the conversation. Do you have questions about the relationship between climate change and sleep? Submit them in advance via the Zoom registration for Dr. Danielle Wallace and Dr. Ellemarije Altena, and they may be addressed during the seminar.
