SRS Grant Application Pre-Review Program
The SRS Grant Award Pre-Review (GAP) Program provides support for early-stage investigators pursuing NIH career development awards (K or similar), foundation grants, or their first R-level grants. The program primarily aims to serve individuals with limited access to internal institutional grant pre-review mechanisms, but the program is open to all early-stage investigators seeking feedback on their application from sleep and circadian science experts.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and must be submitted at least 8 weeks prior to the sponsor’s grant deadline. The program will accept applications while funds to support the program are available.
Application Requirements
- Interested applicants should complete the application form, including grant proposal, with specific aims, research plan, biosketch, and career development plan (where applicable) and the names of up to 5 potential SRS member reviewers with appropriate expertise. Applicants are encouraged to use the SRS membership directory to identify potential reviewers if uncertain of membership status. Reviewers will be required to submit a signed confidentiality agreement prior to review.
- Specific Aims will be reviewed by the Pipeline Development Committee (PDC) GAP Subcommittee. If the GAP Subcommittee approves the application, applicants must provide a complete, high-quality draft of their grant proposal, including the research plan and all supporting documents required for review (specific aims, research plan, biosketch, and candidate background/goals when applicable).
- Applicants will receive written NIH-style reviews from each reviewer within 30 days of submitting application materials. Applicants are required to submit a summary of revisions resulting from reviewer feedback within 30 days after the application has been submitted to the funder and update the SRS on the funding outcome of the proposal.
