Member Appreciation Month
Celebrating the SRS Community — All March Long
March marks our first-ever Member Appreciation Month, and we’re thrilled to celebrate the people who make the Sleep Research Society what it is — our members.
Throughout the month, we’ll be highlighting member stories, recognizing contributions, and sharing our appreciation for the diverse community advancing sleep and circadian science every day.
What’s Happening This Month
During Member Appreciation Month, SRS will be:
- Sharing authentic member experiences that showcase the value of SRS membership
- Highlighting SRS members across our social media channels
- Selecting two raffle winners each week in March
- Awarding SRS merchandise to selected winners
Member Spotlight
Our members’ voices are at the heart of SRS.
From meaningful collaborations to career-defining moments, these member stories reflect the experiences, connections, and community that make SRS special. Selected members will be spotlighted weekly throughout March.
Week 1
Dr. Allison Brager,
SRS Full Member
“I have been a proud member of the SRS since junior year of college (2006). The SRS is my family and I truly mean that. The SRS has supported me through every transition stage of my career - both the highs and the lows - through mentoring, networking, and educational resources. I would not be a leader in sleep and circadian science if not for the SRS.”
Ms. Sophia Kogan
SRS Predoctoral Student Member
“Being a part of the Sleep Research Society has been incredible! As a student, it's wonderful being part of a strong community with a shared passion for sleep research that supports and uplifts each other. I've had the opportunity to network and make new connections, as well as be inspired by others' work. I'm proud to be a member for the SRS!”
Week 2
Dr. H. Craig Heller,
SRS Full Member
“I greatly appreciate the sincere efforts and excellent programs the SRS undertakes to bring new, and especially young, researchers into our society, and to make them feel welcomed and valued. These include fellowship and research support, mentoring relationships, educational and communication programs, and many opportunities to showcase their work. The SRS invests in the future of our field.”
Dr. Seo Ho (Michael) Song,
SRS Postdoctoral Fellow Member
“My most memorable moment was connecting with colleagues, friends, and mentors at SLEEP 2025! I learned a lot from the latest advances in sleep research, and it was a fantastic opportunity to build new networks with like-minded sleep researchers worldwide.”
Week 3
Dr. Amy Costa,
SRS Postdoctoral Fellow Member
“Joining the SRS has been invaluable to my career. I’ve found a supportive community that encourages collaboration and networking with colleagues I wouldn’t have met otherwise. Overall, being an SRS member has been a cornerstone of my academic experience by providing connection and encouragement as I grow as a sleep scientist.”
Dr. Chenlu Gao,
SRS Postdoctoral Fellow Member
“As a trainee, I truly feel that the SRS values our community and provides a tremendous amount of resources to help us grow. I have learned so much by attending the Trainee Day activities at each SLEEP meeting. The trainee events have also given me the chance to network with my peers and receive career advice from many established sleep researchers.”
Week 4
Dr. Sean Drummond,
SRS Full Member
“What does the SRS mean to me? In a word: community. I grew up with a community of trainees who are my still friends, colleagues, and collaborators many years later. So, too, are many I have met along the way. The SRS is my professional home, and I have always felt welcomed and valued.”
Dr. Shengzi Zeng,
SRS Postdoctoral Fellow Member
“SRS has been an essential part of my development as a sleep researcher. Through its annual meetings and trainee-focused programming, I’ve found not only cutting-edge science but also a welcoming and intellectually generous community. The opportunity to connect with investigators across disciplines both strengthened my work and broadened my perspective on translational sleep research. Beyond scientific exchange, SRS provides valuable opportunities to develop leadership skills and gain experience in grant writing and publication. I’m grateful to be part of a community that actively supports the growth of early-career researchers.”
