We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work with Drs. Jared Saletin (primary supervisor) and Mary Carskadon on a new NICHD-sponsored R01 investigating the effects of sleep and sleep loss on attention, impulsivity, and learning in early adolescents in the Brown University Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior.
Our E.P. Bradley Hospital Sleep Research Laboratory is affiliated with Brown University’s Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and MRI Research Facility, the Carney Institute for Brain Science, and Bradley Hospital’s new COBRE Center for Sleep and Circadian Rhythms in Child and Mental Health.
This project investigates the impact of chronic sleep loss on brain mechanisms of attention and learning in early adolescents. This new study combines structural MRI, functional MRI, waking EEG, with sleep and circadian measurement and the machine learning tools of computational psychiatry.
Recent or soon-to-defend PhDs with an interest in sleep research, developmental cognitive neuroscience, or their transitional connections (e.g., mind-brain-education), are encouraged to apply.
Experience in acquisition and analysis in one modality of neuroimaging (MRI or EEG) is preferred. Prior work in young populations is a plus. Training can be provided in either cognitive neuroscience or sleep research methods.
Multiple opportunities exist for collaboration within psychiatry or in broader Brown neuroscience/cognitive science community, including with grant co-investigators and collaborators.
All postdoctoral fellows participate in clinical psychology postdoctoral training program and professional development activities (see below; https://www.brown.edu/clinical-psychology-training/). Salaries are determined to current NIH Standards. This fellowship is funded.
More info on our lab and the specific fellowship can be seen here.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The intended start date is Summer or Fall 2022. Interested candidates are encouraged reach out to Dr. Saletin with a brief cover letter and CV at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
