We are looking to recruit a postdoctoral fellow on the T32 in Atherosclerosis training program at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. This position would fall under the mentorship of Dr. Marie-Pierre St-Onge, Director of the Center of Excellence for Sleep & Research Center and Associate Professor of Nutritional Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of General Medicine.
This postdoctoral training program in arteriosclerosis has been funded since 1978 . The goal of this program is to train basic and clinical investigators with broadly based knowledge in the major fields related to arteriosclerosis research. A strength of the program is the many collaborative interactions that exist between faculty, and collaborative research programs for trainees has always been stressed. The proposed training plan focuses on a strong didactic program to strengthen the trainee's knowledge in biostatistics and clinical trials. Within this program, the trainee will also gain experience in the conduct of clinical trials and measures of food intake, energy expenditure, and cardiometabolic risk factors using state-of-the art methods.
Current NIH-funded clinical projects include research assessing the impact of (1) sleep stability on glycemic control and body composition; (2) timing of meals on energy balance regulation and cardiometabolic risk factors; (3) sleep duration and its variability on cardiometabolic risk factors. Our laboratory is highly collaborative, with ongoing collaborations with faculty from other divisions within CUIMC Department of Medicine and other departments CUIMC. We also have strong collaborations with investigators at various institutions that conduct complementary studies in basic and population science.
Ideal candidates will have a PhD in life sciences or MD and have prior experience in human research.
