Gillin Research Grant - Proposals Due December 6th

The J. Christian Gillin, MD, Research Grant supports early career investigators in sleep research with the purpose of collecting pilot data to be used for future grant applications. The grant is intended for junior faculty investigators who do not already have substantial independent research funding. These one-year grants provide support up to $20,000. Grants will be awarded based on evaluated scientific merit and SRSF programmatic priorities.
 
Dr. Christian Gillin left a legacy as one of the most influential researchers in psychiatry and sleep. Dr. Gillin was a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego from 1982 to 2003, and a past-president of the SRS. Dr. Gillin enjoyed respect and admiration, as he personified the very best in human nature. His dignity, humanity and positive approach to life coupled with his scientific curiosity made him a role model to many. Dr. Christian Gillin passed away from esophageal cancer on September 13, 2003.
 
All proposals must be submitted electronically by December 6, 2013. The SRSF encourages a non-binding letter of intent be submitted in advance, by November 21, 2013. The letter should include the principal investigator, institution, project title, previous funding received and a brief biographical sketch.
